About Us

Mentee was founded by Dr. Jason Bruce and Shawna D’Antimo—two educators and researchers with a shared passion for advancing Indigenous education in ways that are meaningful, community-led, and rooted in real-world impact. Drawing from their experiences across classrooms, postsecondary institutions, research programs, and grassroots initiatives, Jason and Shawna saw a gap in the tools and strategies available to Indigenous educators and learners. Mentee was born out of this insight: a desire to co-create culturally grounded, accessible, and flexible resources that truly reflect the strengths, challenges, and aspirations of Indigenous communities. Every project we take on is shaped by this founding commitment—to serve, to listen, and to act in partnership with the communities we work with.

Mentee is guided by core values that reflect our dedication to long-term impact and community empowerment. We prioritize integrity in all that we do—delivering work that is thoughtful, rigorous, and grounded in truth. We value humility, recognizing that solutions must be shaped in dialogue, not isolation. And we are committed to relationships—because meaningful change is only possible when trust is built and maintained over time. At our core, we believe that Indigenous communities hold the knowledge, strength, and vision to lead their own educational futures.
