Most planning starts by listing what an organization or community is missing. Asset mapping flips that around. It's a map of what you already have: the people and their skills, the physical spaces, the local groups and partners, and the relationships that quietly get things done. Laying those strengths out often changes how a group plans, and it makes a far stronger case to funders than a list of problems.
